Modi gets permission to fly to the US
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who was denied visa to the USA last year for allegedly presiding over the genocide of Muslims during the post- Godhra atrocities in 2002. Human rights group in USA had complained to the State department that Modi should not be allowed to enter their country. These groups had demanded his arrest if he set his foot on US soil. The State department of USA had bowed to these pressures and denied visa to Modi last year. This time around, it is learnt from authoritative sources, that the US government has succumbed to exertions from the BJP leadership to grant a visa to Modi if he chooses to travel in the next few months. Now Modi would not be denied permission to land in US if he chooses to do that, but the question that dogs the minds of his handlers is- what is the guarantee that he would not arrested if the US courts respond favourably to the petitions of the human rights group.
