What will the Prez do now?

There is another fierce speculation in political circles about what will President A P J Abdul Kalaam do once the bill on office of profit is sent back to him by the parliament, without any major amendment? Constitution makes it clear that he has to give his assent to the bill if it comes to him again, but rule book is silent on when he has do that. “ He can exercise the physical option of sitting on the bill for a month. And during that time the Election Commission could act on the petitions”,  said a constitutional expert. Earlier President Giani Zail Singh had sat on the postal bill, before Rajiv Gandhi’s government managed to sort the matter.

This is not the first time President A P J Abdul Kalaam has disagreed with this government. Even on the reservation bill earlier this year, President had raised objections at the draft stage and wondered why the minority institutions have been exempted from reservations. He had also wondered why there were no reservations for the minorities. The HRD ministry had sent back the bill without any changes. The President had taken his own time to return the bill. What will he do this time?
