Vedanta wrangles
A book by an old baiter of Anil Agarwal, the head of the London-based metal company, Vedanta Group, that picked up BALCO in 2004, is doing the rounds of Delhi’s political circles. Besides, detailing the rise and rise of Agarwal, the book also exposes the manner in which Vedanta Group allegedly jacked up the prices of its shares and is reported have made a cool billion dollars. The money, according to the book, was sent to India. The book also reports a remark of Agarwal, where he mentions Finance Minister P Chidambaram as the “future prime minister” of the country. Some public spirited individuals are planning to file a Public Interest Litigation.
