Bangladesh Mutiny- A challenge for India

Rakhi Chakrabarty Delhi/Hardnews

After the massacre by the Bangladesh Rifles troops in Dhaka, it is probe time. Hardnews was the first to report that intelligence sources in India suspected that Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) is behind the mutiny and that there is a bigger conspiracy behind this mutiny.

Even in the probe started by the Bangladesh government, the sinister design of the ISI is gradually becoming apparent. Indeed, questions are being asked: was it really an attempt to stage an armed coup against the new government, or to repeat the calculated scenario of the murder of Mujibur Rehman and his family?

According to intelligence sources, this is, perhaps, the price Bangladesh is paying for electing pro-Indian Sheikh Hasina's party with a huge majority. The BDR mutiny was not just the outcome of grievances within the border guarding force of Bangladesh. It was engineered by the ISI as it is in BDR that Pakistani army and ISI has the greatest influence. The name of a shipping magnate is coming up in the probe, who is close to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and, more importantly, the Pakistani military intelligence.

The ISI is deeply entrenched in Bangladesh and has carved out strong pockets of influence in the country's army and paramilitary forces like the BDR. With Hasina returning to the helm of affairs, the hardline, radical and fundamentalist elements in Bangladesh's political-security establishment find themselves ill at ease. Plus, her well-known pro-India stand is reason enough for pro-Pakistan elements to send signals: that their influence continues and they can organise large-scale destruction, killings and political instability. ISI also wanted, Hardnews learns from intelligences sources, to send a signal to the Indian security set up that they had the capability to upset Delhi's best laid plans in South Asia to enlarge its area of influence.

The gunning down of BDR chief Major General Shakil Ahmed adds credence to the involvement of the ISI. Ahmed was known to be a liberal just like the Bangladesh Army chief Moin Ahmed.

Last year, Major General Shakil Ahmed was in Delhi for the DG level BSF-BDR conference. Bangladesh was then run by the interim government. While speaking to this correspondent then, Ahmed had said, "We are trying to weed out corruption and promote an honest set-up."

Those in the know averred that his liberal views made him a target for the ISI.

india - a persistent pain for neighbours

This recent mutiny reminded me of the tempest that rocked Dhaka University and other educational institutes of Bangladesh, in August 2007 which ended up in the imposition of curfew like situation in the country. where The Bengali media reports later disclosed that the havoc was actually masterminded by the Indian Intelligence Research and Analysis Wing – RAW... i really wonder why people still cant digest the fact..

Indian factor

Indian Raw wants to destablize Bangladesh and the best way is to divide its army. BDR gaurds boarders and Bangladesh is having 4000 km long boarder with India. The RAW has infiltrated into the ranks and files of BDR ( like they did in 1971 East Bengal Rifles)and this is what we got today. The brutal and inhuman killing of army officers , their parents, wives, children, looting of houses....everything clearly indicates that any person having a grain of love of Bangaldesh can not do it.....this can only be done by Indian agents.
wake up my brothers in Bengladesh....wake up military officers, soldiers, know your enemy...India...the blood of BDR is still on their hands......wake up....Pak-Bangladesh brotherhood long live.....Death for India and its collaborators

BDR mutiny

I wonder why Indian media launched propaganda against 'a quarter of Army' , Bangladesh's opposition party or ISI quoting indian intelligence immediately after the incident. Is it a plot to motivate public attention from the real thing? They quote 'Indian intelligence' but never elaborate much. Then why we will rely on so called intelligence source? The so much attention Indian media is paying over Bangladesh's internal matter proves that India has a definite goal here. We do not rule out any possibility of Indian involvement in the tragic incident.

BDR mutiny

Who said that Sheikh Hasina is pro-Indian? Did Hasina claimed that? If not why did Hardnews tell that? I don't understand why Indian media is launching propaganda that other country was involved. it's Bangladesh's own problem. India should not use this incident to achieve its narrow political gain in the region.

NO! NO!! NO!!!

So far bangladeshis failed to suspect who was behind the BDR munity. But many people now suspect foreign interfere. And India is only country that may cause this.
Cause -1 : India is only country who'll be beneficial if Bangladeshi military power decrease.
2. India fear BDR as they are highly trained specially more than india. As BDR are trained by Bangladesh army.
3. India took revenge of 2001 BSF killing by BDR.

Now most Bangladeshi suspect RAW of India is the main actor behind this BDR munity. And up to now no Bangladeshi suspect ISI of Pakistan as the actor behind this BDR munity. So I request Indian newspaper please just stop spreading this type of news. Because this is wrong news and misguiding people.

BDR mutiny

Its very hard to decipher what the authour says by "India ios going to be benifited" by the BDR mutiny. None can deny that india is the only country in the subcontinent which is stable, developing.India is going to be benifited only when it has stable neighbour around.Such kind of mutiny is indeed antithetic to india's interest.
Its advisable to all country Particularly Pakisthan and Bangladesh,to come up with proper institutional revamption and goodwill of development to get rid of this bizzare things. They can learn a lession from india for that matter. One should ponder why this thing can not happen in India. With diversity in every inch, in terms of religion, class ,language, geography, India should have been more unstable.however its not, thanks to its constitution , institution, and confidence of people in general, that we have to make our country"own
