Bachchan to promote backwaters
Abhish K Bose Delhi
Amitabh Bachchan is all set to become the brand ambassador to promote tourism in God's own country. In a recent interview with a private Malayalam channel Bachchan expressed his willingness to associate with the state he loves the most.
Soon after, the tourism minister of Kerala, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, requested
him formally to which the actor gave his nod. Bachchan, currently is the brand ambassador of Gujarat.
Hardnews learnt that Kerala tourism secretary, V Venu, will be sent to New Delhi to negotiate with the actor. However, Balakrishnan refused to comment on the development.
Commenting on the development, K P Sethunath, noted film critic said "
Bachchan is the most popular Indian face even in the international arena. This is the reason why the government in Kerala wants to rope in the actor." However, Sethunath is sceptical about the term and conditions that would be put forth by the actor. "Bachcham is an expensive actor," Sethunath pointed out.
Big B fans in the state are jubilant over this development. "Big B recently said that he wants to act in a Malayalam cinema. Now his decision to be the brand ambassador is a testimony to how he loves and adores Kerala" says Suhail A Salam, an ardent Bachchan fan.
