Gagan Narang wins bronze medal in 10m air rifle at London Games

Shooter Gagan Narang ended India's medal drought on the fourth day at the London Olympics after clinching bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle event with an overall score of 701.1. There was huge pressure and expectation on Narang’s shoulders as fans had a major set back when Abinav Bindra shot 594 out of 600 to finish a shocking 16th out of 47 competitors and lost the golden chance of becoming the world's first shooter to win two successive gold medals at the mega event.

A view on Narang’s performance in the final round:

Tenth Shot: 10.7 points. Total: 702.1, Position: 3rd. That's the first medal for India.  Narang has finally clinched that elusive Olympic medal. He has won the bronze medal of the 10m Air Rifle.

Ninth Shot: 10.3 points, Total: 690.4, Position-3rd

Eighth Shot: 9.5 points

Seventh Shot: 9.9 points

Sixth shot:Narang's sixth shot is for 10.6.

Fifth shot: Narang's fifth shot is for 10.4 points. His score is 52.1 and 650.1 total.

Gagan is currently third with a score of 639.7. Alin George of Romania is leading the chart with 640.2
