Narendra Damodardas Modi is a sad man nowadays. He was the man who wanted to uproot corruption from the political landscape of India. Ironically, it is those who enjoyed the sweets of corruption who are blocking his every move and stalling his mission of developing India.
When he talks about corruption he obviously is not referring to Eknath Khadse, the outgoing Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and de-facto OBC leader of the state unit. The media has been enthusiastically covering the escapades of Khadse, which include indulging in blatant corruption, land grabbing and seeking crores in bribes. Modi has responded to the media coverage of l`affaire Khadse with stony silence and willful blindness. The Modi-Amit Shah duo is now grooming Irrigation Minister Girish Mahajan as the new OBC face of the government.
It is quite evident that when it comes to corruption, according to Modi, the fountainheads of graft are Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He freed the Italian Marine charged with murder to secure some way to implicate Sonia in the Augusta Westland deal. Never mind that all evidence so far points at Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) alumnus and former Air Force chief Shashidhar Pal Tyagi. Interestingly the VIF was once headed by the current National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval.
These are not the only examples of corruption in the BJP ranks. Pankaja Munde was allegedly involved in a chikki scam. Not content with that she went ahead and got embroiled in a biscuit scam too. When Modi said “na khaoonga, na khane doonga” he apparently was not referring to the likes of Munde and Khadse.
Why is it that Modi does not talk about the Vyapak scam when he talks about corruption? Especially when the fraud involved senior RSS functionaries, several BJP ministers and the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself. Surely Modi does not remember any of that nor does our great crusader against corruption, Arnab Goswami. A perfect example of selective amnesia.
In the run-up to the Maharashtra assembly polls, the Shiv Sena had alleged that Government attempts at popularising LED bulbs were, in fact, a scam of epic proportions. The Sena in its write up in Saamna had alleged that money had been swindled to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore in the bulk purchase and distribution of LED bulbs by the Government in Maharashtra alone. Aspersions were cast against Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal. No enquiry took place. After all, Goyal is the blue-eyed boy of Modi.
Modi’s sugar daddy Gautam Adani is a defaulter of the banks to the tune of Rs 72000 crore. Modi's diamond merchant friends from Gujarat constitute the bulk of those who have been stacking unaccounted wealth in the British Virgin Islands and whose names figures in the Panama papers leak. All said and done; Modi is an honest man, determined to root out corruption and is agonised by these corrupt Congressmen who are not allowing him to clean the Augean stables. Poor soul! What a pity!
