Ex-Congress MLA held by Arunachal police on fraud charges

Guwahati: A former Congress MLA, Sanjay Raj Subba, was arrested from his Harmati residence in northern Assam’s Sontipur district by a team of Arunachal Pradesh police on charges of fraud.

Police sources said here today that Subba was arrested by a team from Seppa police station of Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with local police, in connection with a case of fraud against him. The former Congress MLA of Naoboicha constituency in Assam is facing non-bailable charges, the sources added.

Subba, whose elder brother Mani Kumar Subba was a Congress MP from Assam and a lottery baron, was also a parliamentary secretary in the last Congress government in the state.
