‘Despite Karnataka loss, BJP gained public sympathy’

Karnataka elections: Parties set to release candidates’ list by April 10

Electioneering in Karnataka is entering a crucial phase around the next five days as both the Congress and the BJP are set to release their respective list of candidates by April 10. According to BJP sources, the party’s central committee that comprises Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other top leaders, may give its nod to the first list of candidates for the May 12 elections on April 10 while the Congress state unit screening committee will make its recommendations to the party high command latest by April 9-10.

IT raids on Karnataka Energy Minister, Rs 9 crore recovered

Bengaluru: Income Tax Department conducted raids at multiple locations linked to Karnataka energy minister DK Shivakumar, including his office and properties in Bengaluru.  Raids were also conducted at a Resort where Shivakumar was temporarily staying to look after the safety of 42 MLAs from Gujarat who were brought to the City after 6 MLAs were lured by BJP ahead of the Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat on August 8.

Karnataka govt releases Rs 671 cr compensation to farmers

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said that the government had decided to release Rs 671 crore compensation towards crop loss to nearly 10 lakh farmers who were

deeply affected by drought that is prevailing in the State for thesecond successive year. 

In a Twitter message the farmers will get compensation in form of input subsidy and it will be transferred directly to their bank accounts.
