SC dismisses Swamy's plea for early hearing in Ayodhya case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today refused to grant an early hearing in a plea filed by senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy in the Ayodhya case. A bench of the Apex Court headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar refused to grant an early hearing into  Swamy's petition. The bench asked Swamy why did he not inform the court that he was not a party to the Ayodhya case. On Swamy's request, the SC had earlier said that the issue should be resolved through negotiations by various parties, including all the petitioners and respondents.

Pak hand behind ‘stone pelting’ in J&K: Rajnath

New Delhi:  Home Minister Rajnath Singh today squarely blamed Pakistan for continuous efforts to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir and said even the "stone pelting" exercises resorted by youth in that state has Pakistani connection.

"My appeal to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir is that they should not be misguided by Pakistan and

elements in Pakistan," Singh said in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.

Delhi HC dismisses Swaraj India plea for common symbol

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today dismissed the plea of Swaraj India for a common symbol in the April 23 MCD polls.

The High Court dismissed the plea of the party, saying since the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would now carry photographs of candidates and it would not be put to any disadvantage if there was no common symbol.

Justice Hima Kohli said as the plea was filed after several steps in the electoral process had started, it was "very late in the day for the court to interfere".

BSF recovers 2 kg heroin from Punjab border

Jalanadhar: The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered two kg heroin and 65 gm opium from Punjab border.

RS Kataria, DIG BSF Punjab Frontiers, headquarters of the BSF, here said that the contraband was recovered during a special drive launched to smash drug racket at the border areas.

He said the contraband was recovered from the area under the BoP Telumal in Ferozepur sector. The heroin and the opium were recovered from a tractor during the search of the vehicle. It was hidden in packets by a farmer, identified as Jaswinder Singh, resident of Gandukilcha village.

Mohan Bhagwat asserts he is not in race for President's post

Nagpur:  Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat today refuted reports that he is in race for President asserting that these were rumours and it is never going to happen.

"There are some rumours in the media about me wanting to become president, which is never going to happen. I am here to work for RSS and the rumours spread by the media will always remain rumours. I am not in race for President." Bhagwat told mediapersons here.
